The 2006 Chevrolet HHR I own has to be ane of the biggest lemons I take always owned! It only has 79,000 miles on information technology and the brake rotors rusted and so badly they warped and had to be cleaved autonomously for removal! I take never seen rotors that rusted like this! Merely my biggest complaint is my current trouble. The Fuel Supply Line rusted and is leaking behind the drivers seat area. I can get the leak to cease by loosening the gas cap and de pressuring the tank! The dealer wants me to replace the unabridged line which would be a $600 fix! I have never heard of or seen such a terrible design and problem that is so unsafe in my life. Chevrolet should exist required to fix this manufacturing defect!!

I was driving and noticed a strong fuel aroma. In the few minutes it took me to park and walk to the commuter side rear wheel a reasonably large puddle had formed and there was a about continuous baste of gasoline. I moved my car out of the driveway, (my neighbors were shooting fireworks less than twenty feet away, it was a small miracle there was non a burn down), and drove it to the mechanic the adjacent day. My mechanic confirmed that the fuel line had rusted through, and noted that due to the design of the car water would pool keeping the fuel line submerged most of the time. Still waiting on the parts, information technology would seem for some reason they are in high demand. I wonder why...

fuel lines rusted out and began leaking fuel lines rusted out and began leaking

I had my HHR for eight years and 180,000 miles. With MANY annoyance. On April eighteen,2015 I was literally on my way to merchandise it in ,with my ii kids accompanying me, when while driving on the superhighway my car started to stall out and overheat. I pulled over nothing white smoke from under hood. Immediately after pulling over a fellow commuter (a stranger an angle) pulled over parking far from me and running back towards my vehicle yelling something at me, with freeway traffic I couldn't make out his words at first. Of a sudden I heard him clear "become out, your cars on burn down" . In daze I started scrambling out of car grabbing what could and screaming at kids to become out. My daughter had on headphones and was still sitting in car when I got out and turned she was notwithstanding buckled in with door shut. I quickly ran back to motorcar dropping my belongings and opened door and pulled her out. Luckily my children were both older , fourteen and 12. The picture that shows flames was taken after we ran most 29 ft. away and turned around literally within 2 mins. of all of us existence out of vehicle. Thank God I had simply fixed non 4 months before right earlier Christmas and for $500 a trouble that made it impossible to open drivers side door from within OR outside and made it necessary to slowly and haphazardly climb through to passenger side and out that door.

Luckily my son had my purse! I lost ALL my CDs and items in bag I dropped when helping my daughter out. Car was a total loss and and then I lost my trade in. I didn't get a fine from insurance because heedlessly I had recently changed to liability merely insurance.

This car is a Death TRAP and very Unsafe , non to mention costly.

Please do non buy a 2006 HHR.

fuel lines rusted out and began leaking fuel lines rusted out and began leaking

How much more issues is HHR gonna take, now I have to deal with rusted fuel lines. I just finish repairing forepart end racket which is a common problem, and at present fuel lines. The other problems I have is, ABS sensors, manual traction control, door handles cleaved (bad design) take to wind window down and open from outside and at present rusted fuel lines. Is it worth keeping this car with all of Chevy problems with this model???

Like the others, had gas smell coming from back of car. Paid for an inspection from my mechanic. Both fuel lines are badly rusted...too rusted for age of car. Bands that support gas tank too rusted. Subsequently a week now, the gas fumes are at present on the inside of the car. I've contacted GM. They desire a dealership inspection that I have to pay for. I want to know how widespread this is. My mechanic says poor design and location of fuel lines and cheap materials that are supposed to protect the fuel lines are the reason for the astringent rusting. This should be a retrieve and repair. I've filed a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Clan (NHTSA), Anyone with this problem should do the same!

Nosotros noticed the gasoline smell in January of 2022 but nosotros idea it was caused by the frigid winter we were having. When the atmospheric condition turned warmer in April, the smell seemed to go away for about 2 weeks and so it came dorsum with and this fourth dimension information technology was leaking very bad. Information technology has gotten worse and our son establish where the line has rusted pivot holes and is leaking very heavily. This motorcar has less than 50,000 miles on information technology and we accept had to have the ignition replaced, the acme clear coat of paint has bubbled up and peeled from the hood, nosotros have gotten 2 other recalls on power steering and airbag; but only if they start acting upwardly as they put it in the recall. Now this. I volition never buy another Chevrolet.

This new of a car should not have problems like this. Overall its been an okay automobile but to know it might have blown up with my kids and my wife within is very agonizing. If I don't accept this consequence stock-still I will protest and my family unit and friends will never buy a GM product over again. I wouldn't put my proper noun on this product. This is BS and lazy for kind of stuff like this to happen.

Returning from a drive from a near by metropolis I parked the car in the garage and went in the house and watched the TV for a couple of hours. My wife went out to feed the dog and chosen me to the garage due to the strong odor of gasoline and asked me if I had spilled some gas and I stated no. The gas smelled like information technology was around the car. I looked around the car then constitute a large puddle of gas in front of the driver's rear tire. I crawled under the car and constitute both gas lines were leaking and were heavily rusted. I did manage to bulldoze the car to the nearest repair shop and had them repaired costing me $238.00 dollars.

This really stressed me out, I accept been driving used cares for 42years and never had an event like this. This is very poor quality by GM along with both fuel lines running right abreast the exhaust pipe with some insulation wrapped around the gas lines, this is where the lines were leaking. This will be the last GM vehicle I buy, very poor quality and poorly engineered. I think GM needs to think all HHR only for this reason alone, non to mention all the other recalls they are having.
